Property taxes (real estate and personal property tax) only fund schools, County Health, County General and the County Library.
The Sequoyah County Assessor determines property value. If you have any questions concerning your assessment, please contact the Assessor's Office at 918-775-2062.
*CHANGE OF ADDRESS:
If you wish to change the mailing address for your tax statements you MUST contact the County Assessor's Office at 918-775-2062.
If you are the new owner of a property, you need to contact the County Assessor's Office with the correct mailing address for the statement BEFORE October 1st. They will certify the tax roll to our office sometime after this date.
If your mortgage company is responsible for payment of your taxes, you should contact them to confirm their receipt of tax information from our office.
The Treasurer must assess interest on all delinquent payments at a rate of 18% per year, added monthly at a rate of 1.5%.
Property tax may be paid in full or in two payments. The 1st half OR the full amount MUST be paid before January 1st or the whole amount of tax becomes delinquent. We cannot accept first half payments after December 31st. If you choose to pay the first half payment by December 31st, the last half is due before April 1st. Title 68 article 2913, DUTY TO PAY TAXES-Title 68 article 2915
*ROAD REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE
All monies to repair county roads comes from FUEL TAX, MOTOR VEHICLE COLLECTIONS and GROSS PRODUCTION TAX. The Oklahoma Tax Commission collects all of this and distributes the money to each of the 77 counties in Oklahoma.
